In Case It’s Too Simple
IN CASE IT’S TOO SIMPLE

Although I long to love you, something says I mustn’t
It was something in your kiss (or something that wasn’t).
It’s early yet to tell whether we’ll become close
And some dreams are much too grand –
As you act like a guest, I could rise to the test,
Or you could tell me where I stand.
Just in case it’s too simple,
If somehow it’s too simple,
In case it’s too simple
We could go on this way.
Someone once told me “always” and I thought I knew what it meant
I just want to touch you somehow — I need no big commitment.
And if you ever wake from a passionate dream
Only to find you’re alone
I could serve in that regard, but you make it so hard
When the terms are all your own.
All I ever had in mind was to take a little chance –
Now instead I find this mystery, this dance.
I’ve not met anybody quite like you in ages
Why can’t this fool desire be somehow contagious?
It’s easy to believe, in a magical way,
Somewhere there’s someone for us each
Tell me that one one more time, persistent heart of mine:
I’ve got a long way here to reach.
